Wellness Marche at Tasukake
Tasukake is a stunning gallery space in the middle of the rice fields in Minami Boso city. Formerly a large greehouse, now ith has stained glass panels in the windows, handprinted paper on the walls, and features permanent works of assemblage sculpture. And it hosts curated exhibitions as well as lively events and workshops.
I participated in their “Heart & Body Wellness Marche” this weekend. Rain drove the event indoors, but I had plenty of space at a cafe table to set up a little workshop area. I had prepared for an outdoor site, but I am happy that I got to be inside. I had a comfy sofa where I could sit to do a live drawing. I worked on a motif meditation on and off for several hours

It took a while for anyone to really engage with me, but the kids liked playing with the rock blocks I had on the table. By the end of the day I’d sold four of the Art 瞑想 kits that I’d prepared. I enjoyed everyone’s artistic personalities coming through as they drew and painted.

And as a bonus surprise, I sat in with the band, Jukebox. I arrived and was setting up they were rehearsing. The singer, Kai-san, told me she was nervous to be singing in English in front of me and she invited me to duet Country Roads with her. We rehearsed together with the guitarist and in the middle of their first set, I got up with them. It’s been a while since I’ve been in front of an audience and I must admit that Country Roads has never been my strongest number. I was a little nervous but it was really fun.

I’m looking forward to doing more Drawing Meditations & Art 瞑想 at Tasukake and other events in the area.
P.S. I have lots of Art 瞑想 kits available. You can buy one in the shop!
